Positive news for the French and Portuguese economies: foreign investment in France increased by 16% in 2016 compared to 2015. This was reported by the Paris-based Business France in its article on the internationalisation of the French economy in 2016, which was published on the 21st March. The increase led to the creation or maintenance of about 30,000 jobs last year.
France was the leading recipient of Portuguese investments in Europe in 2016. These accounted for around 40% of Portugal's total investments in Europe, compared to 20% in Spain. There are currently about 350 Portuguese companies boosting the economy in France and these companies offer employment for around 2,400 French people.
